Frequency

Home » Glossary » Frequency

The frequency describes the number of oscillations per second and is given in the unit Hertz (Hz). An oscillation passes through various points: The starting point, the maximum point, the zero point, the minimum point, and the end point, which represents the starting point of the subsequent oscillation. If exactly one second elapses between leaving the starting point and reaching the end point, the frequency is 1 Hz. If the oscillation passes through the end point five times in a sequence, the frequency is 5 Hz. The shorter the time between the individual oscillations, the higher the frequency.
